ERIQ,

I understand your concern ... there are some who DO try to milk products with
many versions and little improvement (it would be tacky to name names).
However, I don't think Lang is doing that, but is just trying to make his
product as attractive as possible for new customers, which is good marketing.
For established customers (like me), who have already paid for Chess Genius for
Palm, we get the update (and any future updates) for *free* and just have to
download it. His site advertises that you have to pay for it just *once*. I
find that refreshing! Let's face it, how many times have we paid for our
beloved engines .... Fritz, Shredder, Junior, Hiarcs, Tiger, etc? Certainly
more than once! (I know I have...) So, hat's off to Lang!

Personally, I like ChessGenius for Palm .... it's actually beatable, but plays
fairly well, so it's nice to have in my briefcase, always ready for a game.
(Let's not even *try* to beat Fritz or Shredder on our fast machines ... forget
about it, unless you're a GM ... and even they have much to fear from our silcon
beasts. All I can say is, thank God for "sparring" and "friend" levels.)

While on the subject of Palm chess software - I'm still waiting for Hiarcs for
Palm ... and waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting. What's up with that? He
must have a different definition of "coming soon!" than I do.

Mark
