That option will be included in will be in the Crafty 19.13 SE release tomorrow.
Also included will be 4 new GM personalities - Staunton, Korchnoi, Gligoric and
Polgar. There are now 24 GM personalities. So you can have a nice little
tournament between yourself and some of the best GM's in the world ;>)

A really cool new feature that will be included in the release tommorrow is
random search depth. Bruce Fox, a dedicated and die hard "Crafty SE" fan came
up with this one - that's pretty slick as it really does help Crafty in
simulating "human play" as Crafty will make some really good moves and maybe not
some good moves all because of random search depth .

The command is "rsd" and the user sets the randomness range. It also has
separate randomness for the opening and middle game and for the endgame. A low
search depth in the endgame typically weakens the computer too much for humans
relative to the human opening and middle game strength. This allow the computer
to be stronger in the endgame without being too weak in the endgame.

format:

rsd <low sd> <high sd> <low sd endgame> <high sd endgame>

Examples:

"rsd 2 5 5 10" - will randomly select between 2 and 5 plies in the
opening/middle and between 5 & 10 in the endgame.

"rsd 3 3 5 10" will search 3 plies in the opening/middle and between 5 & 10 in
the
endgame.

"rsd 1 5 8 8" will randomly select between 1 and 5 plies in the opening/middle
and
search 8 plies in the endgame.

"rsd 3 3 5 5 will search 3 plies in the opening/middle and search 5 plies in the
endgame.

"rsd 3 5 3 5" will randomly select between 3 and 5 plies in the opening/middle
and
endgame

"rsd 1 5 0 <x>" (<x> any number) will randomly select between 1 and 5 plies in
the
opening/middle and not be limited in endgame

"rsd 0 <x> 0 <x>" (<x> == any number) will not be limited in search by search
depth at all in opening/middle/endgame - (you would never really need to use
this - but it's nice to know if you're at the command prompt you are just
testing it out.

Also, fyi "rsd 3 3 3 3" == "sd 3"

Also for those that like "spoken move annoucement" , it is an available option
with this Crafty version and works very well with Odd Gunnar Malin's WB to DGT
board converter . (requires other files avalable for freely from the net).

Best,

Michael
