Somewhat 'chicken and egg'.

It may be that many amateurs are not able (time and money) or do not want to
travel to these venues at all.  Like CCT you either show up or not.  If you do
not then you cannot be called WCCC.  Simple personal (or commercial) decision.

CCT has the problem of cheating of course – crafty clones, using commercial
programs, move now etc.  And of course lacks the personal involvement of the
referee to normalise results to their 'real' value.
