I forgot to summarize the obvious - with these new self-adjusting strength
options Crafty will try (make an effort) to play close to your level.  It will
get stronger as it falls behind and it get weaker as it pulls ahead - but the
acceleration for the weakening Crafty is much slower than the accerlation for
the strengthening.
