Do you claim that the programs are the most important things in a computerchess tournament? - I always thought that drinking beer and having fun for the operators is the most important _between_ rounds. So this is also the reason why recently the tournament schedule has been extended. In four days you simply can't become acclimatized to the local beer, champagne, women and in special chairs to sit upon... Under these aspects 14 days seems rather short! If however you want to play three rounds per day you probably get a dramatic increase in heart-attacks among the operaters because of the tension due to all the rules in the game, throwing drawn games and such extremely hard sports disciplines. No, 14 days is not long enough but it's the minimum out of a medical view. 4 weeks would be optimal. 6 weeks would leave enough room for new marriages and frindships in a global world. Very personally I support the theory of a 6 month long expedition for operaters and also programmers. Under such extreme conditions it could be researched scientifically what factors of the operators do really influence the tournament results of the computerchess machines.
