Thanks, So according to AMD's performance numbers doubling the L2 cache compensates 10% lower speed - interesting. I find AMD's Athlon 64 product scheme a bit confusing: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_9484,00.html AMD Athlon™ 64 FX Processor AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor for Desktops Mobile AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor for Desktop Replacement Notebooks So i guess the Acer Notebook with AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor has AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor for Desktop Replacement Notebooks but not Mobile AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Tomorrow i will try that Notebook with my 32-bit IsiChess.
