It might.  Two HT cpus are how much faster than one?  Then we know that you will
get about 1.7x to 1.8x of that speed.

IE if SMT=on is 1.1x where SMT=off is 1.0X, then mt=2 is going to be a net loss,
as you gain 10% with SMT on, and lose 15% of the total which is a net loss.

That needs to be tested on a single CPU machine of course...

It certainly hurts somewhat on my dual...
