IE if Crafty is low on time as it nears a time control, that indicates that the time allocation is too aggressive. If it has significantly more time left than the opponent, it is too timid. It can be adjusted in mid-match if you notice a consistent problem. "Usage 20" will increase time usage per move by 20%. "usage -20" will reduce the time per move by 20%. It still does its normal time allocation computations, but then adjusts by the amount you specify. Max is +/- 50 to prevent gross problems...
