I dont understand the question. Of course you already know the Raid controller has different options for different raid setups. I dont think these controllers that are installed on the motherboard, once disabled, slow our chess programs. I prefer to use a simple pc with one fast hard drive for fast kns. Maybe you like raid setups and feel comfortable with them. I played with raid for awhile and then quit---lots of hardware and expense. when I get ready to format my chess pc, I want to be able to format and reload as simple as possible. also I still have my 15,000 rpm Cheetah. I tested with chess programs and could not see any difference. when I upgrade to dual opteron I will test this again. so for now I do not pay any attention to raid or scsi. have you good results with a raid setup, maybe raid-o? http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/discsales/marketing/detail/0,1081,552,00.html kburcham
