This is in PHP, but it is really cool and probably the best free chess server
out there:
http://kymera.comp.pucpcaldas.br/projetos/compwebchess

To ask questions and discuss the server go here:
http://kymera.comp.pucpcaldas.br/projetos/compwebchess

To see a working version go here:
http://www.betachess.dk/chess

Installation might be a bit tricky and you will probably have to install an
earlier version (CompWebChess-1.1.0.zip) before you install the latest
CompWebChess-1.2-dev2.zip

If you need any help setting it up, please feel free to ask.
