I have MChess Pro 6, and have always found its feature of automatically adding moves to its opening book, based on its experience playing an opponent, intriguing and amusing. Eventually, if played repeatedly against one of my tabletop chess computers, it would build a "killer" opening book. Sometimes MCP6 would be out of book only a few moves before announcing mate. However, MChess Pro 6 is an "ugly" DOS program, and is a pain to run on the later versions of Windows. Do any Windows chess programs have the ability to automatically build to their opening library, based on the outcome of their games, like Marty Hirsch's program? Thanks to anyone for help. P.S. I assume the top chess programmers -- such as Stefan Meyer-Kahlen -- do not view Marty Hirsch's opening book learning method to be the most effective way to improve opening play -- since none of them utilize it.
