Well, you can play 2. Nc3 of course, which might be kind of interesting after 2.
...d5, but the Vienna game transposition after 2. ...e5 can't be the best
solution for white, even if only for very practical reasons btw, unless you
think 2. Nc3 is the best solution after 1. e4 e5 too.

To avoid the Aljekhine mainlines as an 1. e4 player you have to pay a prize,
namely to give up fighting for an opening advantage for real with the white
pieces. You can easily do this inside the Aljekhine complex too, in other and
most probably more promising ways IMHO, e.g. with the exchange variation .
