It is the Chessbase GUI that is sending the "new" command. Odd Gunnar could set the adapter to ignore "new" but then the valid "new" commands would not reach Crafty either. In my view Crafty plays "best" as a winboard or xboard engine. Other playing formats can be utilized for "fun" purposes - but results should be viewed with a grain of salt and heavily discounted.
