Another suggested work around is for Chessbase to fix their GUI not to send the "new" command. Since "new" is not a "uci" command (as GCP stated) - there is no reason for it to be sending a "new" command and that is their bug. My workaround is to use Crafty with Winboard or Arena -- it works perfectly fine. But for those that want to match Crafty vs Computer under Chessabse GUI - the best option may be to use the Chessbase native version. Clearly, importing Crafty as UCI engine through the wb2uci adapter is fine for "fun" purposes but not for "serious" matches and such results should be ignored.
