The main issue is "bookc.bin" or "books.bin". They point Crafty in the right direction. But clearly, the best book for program A is not the best book for program B. IE Cray Blitz played positions with a fianchettoed bishop poorly. Crafty understands this significantly better. For CB we had it avoid such openings completely, while for Crafty I don't. Giving CB crafty's book would hurt it. Giving Crafty CB's book would not hurt crafty near as much for that characteristic... That's the real point of all this. Everyone would like to think that programs play all openings equally well. It just isn't true...
