What I am interested in doing is using a more weighted wood set. Curious if the boards sensory receptors are sensitive to different strengths in the magnet. I have a set boxwood/rosewood (inexpensive) with a 3 1/2' king that is single weighted. I am going to try adding the round/flat magnets to one and if it works, do the other pieces. Excalibur had a great idea with the tournament size electronic table top, however... because the pieces are cheap plastic and the board the same, the set is now being sold new for $100.00. A wooden board and pieces, in my opinion would have allowed excalibur to retail the set for more than $250.00 and the price would never have declined like it has. Yes, they would not have sold as many but because they went "outside the box" and decided to make a tournament size electronic opponent, the game would have stood up very well just in appearance alone, reguardless of it's playing strength.
