It's been a long while since I've looked at the settings thing seriously (CM8000) but I think it was the A/D slider that adjusted two engine parameters simultaneously. The details are vague to me now so I think you can check this out on your own or maybe someone more up to date on it can comment. I think the other setting were straight forward. Also I don't mind settings designed outside of the CM GUI but I see that not everyone is in agreement with that. I can only see it important if they use the CM GUI as their tournament interface. About the competition list you showed to Kurt... The King is a top competitor in this group. You can expect it to do well unless you actually botch the settings. Some settings that seem to be common are increased KS and even default Chessmaster 9000 increased SS a bit over CM8K. Good Luck, BK
