Terry Giles 0.0 L L L L L L L x After this somewhat disappointing performance I was rather surprised that my rating actually went up! Game 1. Lost in 2 moves with white (Fool's mate) - I just didn't see the trap! Game 2. Lost in 3 moves with black - King's gambit - I actually gambited my king Game 3. Lost in 5 moves with white - in an immensely complicated position I simply lost on time. Game 4. Lost in 1 move with white - Leap Frog opening - proved illegal - arbiter declared the game lost. Game 5. Lost in 171 moves with black - my opponent accidentally touched a piece and had to move it - the resultant forced move mated me! Game 6. Lost in thought - arrived at the board late and had to rattle off 40 moves in 3 seconds - I very nearly made it! Game 7. Lost the plot - I don't happen to recollect this game at all - it's a complete blank. (n.b.) Bob Fisher, after beating me in Game 5, claimed never to have played chess before. He's constant searching for the dice and shouts of 'snap' during play adds creedence to this.
