Nice try, Martin, but the big white ball got you again. (Quiz: what am I talking about?) We note that Steffen seems to have forgotten where the "off" switch is on his computer. Doing the math, Hossa's rate of play for the past week is 1 blitz game every 24 minutes! Reaching new personal blitz bests were PostModernist (2580), Hossa (2454), XXXX2 (2635), Grok (2425), and InmiChess (2267). Excellent work, great job to all. Grok has gone to version 1.0. Don't know if this means it's now available in some form. Note that Grok is written in Java! ------ Can anyone answer the following question? I have taken to seeking with an "f", rather than specifying a rating range, in order to make the formula active for both seeks and matches. But without the rating range, I get a bunch of attempts from lower-rated players, who don't meet the "rating > myrating - 300" criterion. Is there a way to show the true rating range in the seek (relative to my current rating)? ------ The programs Tristram and Galahad (author James Long) have been removed from the list this week. James indicated that Tristram has been retired from further development and play, and his new program Galahad won't be ready to compete for some months. So we both felt it served little purpose to continue listing them for now. Look for the return of Galahad in the future. WildChild is still under development, thus doesn't have a rating as yet. EXchess and Rookie are fairly "quiescent" so far. Dan is working on his Masters (?), not sure about Marcel. Phalanx has been invited to join, as have a few others. I'll keep you posted. ------ I want to mention that most member programs now do not discriminate against fellow computers. Thanks to those who switched! It will make more direct competition possible.
