Go up one level in this thread
Hello Will >>/* else the code stores this entry irregardless of depth */ >> > >Since Bruce doesn't post here anymore, I'll substitute. "irregardless" is not a word. And I second Deiter's opinion on the use of two tables. Hey it was a code comment, I would rather see comments in code littered with bad grammar and spelling mistakes than have no comments at all. Did you see Diep's move generator posted here a while back, it was probably very clever but incomprehensible with zero comments Incidentally, here is the link to check "irregardless" http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=irregardless The reason I was poking around with my hash code was to implement the 2 level depth preferred and always store version. I didn't spend long on it but my first attempt was horribly worse compared to the original, so I thought I would go and revisit the original version to help debugging the new one. I guess it is not a clear guaranteed win for a 2 level system, probably depends on lots of other factors Regards Geoff
