It "cripples" Deep Sjeng not by limiting search depth etc but by giving it a wild disregard for material compared to attacking chances (so e.g. evals of +5 are not unusual even in positions when a pawn down and with no immediate prospect of material gain). It is a worthy opponent for a human ELO 1700-1900 - you will always feel it is giving you a chance!
