You can not give this in the >.rc file Crafty needs to have this when it starts. Thanks for the suggestion, but it still doesn't seem to be working. The log shows that the tables were found in the beginning but when the board is cleared down to five and under pieces, it still indicates it is searching. The stats say this: "endgame tablebase-> probes=0 hits=0". Also moves are taking at least a second. Dave
