Playing FRC there are positions possible, which cannot expressed completely by using old FEN, because the castling rights are not always obvious. You will find a proposal for extended FRC-FEN at my page (German/English): [http://homepages.compuserve.de/rescharn/Compu/fullchess5_e.html] Extended FRC-FEN is fully compatible with standard FEN when castling rights are located at outermost rooks, which is the case in normal chess positions and in most of possible FRC positions (but of course not in all of them).
