So finally here I am at issue 500. Compiling this week's issue doesn't really
feel that much different to any other week, as the only way you get to landmark
numbers such as this, is one at a time. In 10 years we have seen web coverage of
all top events and many lesser events become standard, if you wish to follow
chess as a sport then the internet is the place to do it. I love many sports and
whilst there is clearly an artistic side to chess, I like to see good games, I
also like to see good tough competition. The last 10 years has seen a fractured
World Championship structure. We will see the FIDE Championships in Tripoli
start next week and the Kramnik - Leko match start in September. One way or
another there needs to be a single unified structure which I hope won't take
another 500 issues to achieve.
I thank everyone who has contributed in even a small way to the magazine. Also
to Malcolm Pein and the London Chess Centre without whose sponsorship I wouldn't
be lucky enough to be doing this. Here's to another 500 issues.
Hope you enjoy this issue.
