I just reinstalled my Fritz 8 program, after reinstalling the Operating System. For one, the piece selections disappeared !! This happened twice. I had to install the Hiarcs8 program to get the piece selections. The Fritz 8 version I have, was always prompted for the online upgrade, any time I reinstalled the program. Now, it the server says my program is up to date. I was not. There are definite changes to the 3D settings, and the engine after the upgrades. Also, start up of the Fritz 8 program if 1 gig of RAM is installed, is very slow.....After the upgrade, booting up Fritz in a Breeze. Usually the server would prompt you to upgrade....or you can choose to go into help>Query Upgrade.........This time, the server would not. Luckily, I saved my online upgrade files to a DVD Disc and I was able to Upgrade that way.......And the above mentioned changes again took place. Has Chessbase discontinued the online upgrade for Fritz 8 ?? Brian
