[d]r3r1k1/1pq2pp1/2p2n2/1PNn4/2QN2b1/6P1/3RPP2/2R3KB b - - on my P4 2600 I could prove that Hagra gave always correct presentation of FRITZ 8. At first FRITZ 8 sees 1-Re3 as the best move with .66 for White. Then up to 11 plies FRITZ 8 pondered with the two best moves 1-Re3 or 1-Ra3, then suddenly at 11/36 FRITZ 8 begins to worsen its eval for 1-Re3 up to .75 for White. That is the same at ply 12. FRITZ 8 gives on ply 12 again .75 for Re3 and now begins to ponder with the second line with 1-Rad8 ...... at 12/36 FRITZ 8 changes the two lines. Now 1-Rad8 is on the top with still .66 and on second place 1-Re3 with still .75 for White. That situation lasted now from almost time=9 min to now t=16 minutes...... I will wait until (what Hagra has reported) FRITZ 8 will again come back to the main solution 1-Re3 in the first line on its display. Surprise: Now at 13/13 Fritz 8 still has 1-Rad8 in the first rank with the same eval of .66 for White but now suddenly the second line is 1-Ne3 with .72 for White, seemingly better for Black compared with 1-Re3! Approaching now the magic (M. Gurevich) 20 min line. FRITZ 8 is pondering about 1-Rad8 now at 13/13. 20 min now passed, same picture. Huppla, at 13/34 with over 21 min, 1-Rad8 is seen with .75 for White, so the same like before for 1-Re3. Let's see what will happen now! FRITZ 8 is now analysing 1-Ne3 again; as the second best line of course, although as you know it had seen .72 minutes ago. So, will FRITZ 8 change again the lines? Approaching 25 minutes. Same pondering. Voila!!!!!!!! At 13/34 we have a new picture. Choice number 1 FRITZ 8 has 1-Ne3 with .72 for White. 1. ² (0.66): 1...Sd5-e3 2.Dc4-d3 Ta8-d8 3.Sc5xb7 Dc7xb7 4.Lh1xc6 Db7-c7 5.b5-b6 Dc7xb6 6.Lc6xe8 2. ± (0.75): 1...Ta8-d8 2.b5xc6 b7xc6 3.Sc5-b3 Sf6-e4 4.Td2-c2 Se4-f6 5.Dc4xc6 Dc7-e5 6.Dc6-c4 Sd5-b6 (Tueschen, MyTown 12.06.2004) I pasted the analysis into my message so that you can have a fresh impression of what is going on actually. At 13/38 still the same. At 28 minutes FRITZ 8 begins to ponder about 1-Re3 again, I past again: Analysis by Fritz 8: 1. ² (0.66): 1...Sd5-e3 2.Dc4-d3 Ta8-d8 3.Sc5xb7 Dc7xb7 4.Lh1xc6 Db7-c7 5.b5-b6 Dc7xb6 6.Lc6xe8 2. ± (0.72): 1...Te8-e3 (Tueschen, MyTown 12.06.2004) As I said this is at 13/38 - 1-Re3 was the fifth alternative now of totally 56 moves; you know what I mean, speaking about the displayed numbers of FRITZ 8. 31 minutes, no change. I will wait until FRITZ 8 gives a line for 1-Re3, I think it will then again change 1-Re3 into its first choice. If one can believe in the analyses of all the GM and our test expert Dr. Gurevich. M. Meiler too. Let me make a short joke. If I had a weaker computer I wouldn't have seen 1-Ne3 at all. What also proves that this position can't be a reasonable choice for a test! A stronger hardware normally can't or shouldn't worsen the results of the expectede solution of the human players and experts. Or what is it what is going on here? A computer who discovers new lines?? Wait a minute! We have a new information! At 35 minutes and 13/50 pondering about 1-Re3 is over and a variation given: Analysis by Fritz 8: 1. ² (0.66): 1...Sd5-e3 2.Dc4-d3 Ta8-d8 3.Sc5xb7 Dc7xb7 4.Lh1xc6 Db7-c7 5.b5-b6 Dc7xb6 6.Lc6xe8 2. ² (0.66): 1...Te8-e3 2.Lh1-g2 Lg4-h3 3.b5xc6 b7xc6 4.Lg2-f3 Te3-a3 5.Sc5-b3 Ta8-a4 6.Dc4xc6 Dc7xc6 7.Tc1xc6 Sd5-b4 (Tueschen, MyTown 12.06.2004) As you can see FRITZ 8 couldn't decide to put 1-Re3 into first place. Although both have the same eval now. At 38 minutes same picture, FRITZ 8 pondering with 1-Ra3, please read carefully: Ra3, again. At 40 min FRITZ 8 is now almost through with the moves up to alternative 56. The move 56 is BTW 1-b6. The whole thing is now at 14/14. Pondering about the first choice 1-Ne3. Time 42 min now. In NY it's actually 6 or 7:19. All men still in bed. "God is always awake!" [Ed Schröder] "Good to know." [Rolf Tueschen] :) 45 min. Unchanged. Yes - the Horizon! 48 min - same picture. Temperature is rising. Ahaaaa. At 49 min the following happens. Analysis by Fritz 8: 1. ± (0.84): 1...Sd5-e3 2.Dc4-d3 Se3-d5 3.e2-e4 Sd5-e7 4.b5xc6 b7xc6 5.f2-f4 Te8-d8 6.e4-e5 Se7-f5 7.Sc5-b3 2. ² (0.66): 1...Te8-e3 2.Lh1-g2 Lg4-h3 3.b5xc6 b7xc6 4.Lg2-f3 Te3-a3 5.Sc5-b3 Ta8-a4 6.Dc4xc6 Dc7xc6 7.Tc1xc6 Sd5-b4 (Tueschen, MyTown 12.06.2004) So, 1-Ne3 won't see sunset tonight. The game continues with the same procedure as last year. Pondering now about 1-Re3. No other choice! Now at 14/37. I m now a reborn computerchess tester! My last test position was created by myself for FRITZ 2! And of course I tested it myself. 55 minutes - FRITZ 8 in deep thought. Guess what he [then as FRITZ 17] will do with a new P32 at 14800 or 73600! Wow! With liquid cool Ice blocks. 58 min. I Want Icecream. 1 hr! Nothing new. It's Saturday 12:40 and I'm supposed to drive into the City. No excuses. C'mon FRITZI. Save me. 66 minutes. Same. Does FRITZ 8 detest mp3 music? Does such a multitask influence the performance? At 72 min 14/39 the following happens: Analysis by Fritz 8: 1. ² (0.56): 1...Te8-e3 2.Lh1-g2 Te3xg3 3.e2-e3 Tg3xg2+ 4.Kg1xg2 c6xb5 5.Dc4xb5 b7-b6 6.Sc5-d3 2. ± (0.84): 1...Sd5-e3 2.Dc4-d3 Se3-d5 3.e2-e4 Sd5-e7 4.b5xc6 b7xc6 5.f2-f4 Te8-d8 6.e4-e5 Se7-f5 7.Sc5-b3 (Tueschen, MyTown 12.06.2004) Conclusion: Hagra reported that on his stronger than 1400 AMD he got a worse result for position 1 of "WM-Test" because it pondered with 1-Rad8. I could assure that result. My P4 2600 also analysed 1-Rad8 but then went mad with 1-Ne3 for a long while. In the end he returned to the best 1-Re3. I don't believe that a position is good for a teast that allows a better computer to get a worse result! I think that Ed Schröder said the neccessary for such tests. Read his messages above. Thanks, Hagra. And dont let you be depressed and suppressed by the CSS team & the anonymous haters...
