You get a slight speedup in your nodes/second with pawn hash tables. It is much more important to reduce the size of your tree, rather than get a slightly better nodes/second score. BUT...pawn hash tables are usually not large, as you have read in other replies. So, allocate most of your RAM to your tree-reducing hash tables, and about 10-12% of that should be sufficient for you pawn hash tables.
