  Hi Steve
snip<"in REAL chess there is no such thing as moving pieces before an opponent

Depends on your perception of "real" chess. Is online chess real? Premove and
smart move, and auto-queen are things unique to online chess. Most use these
features, and in a very fast game they produce results, so much so that if you
don't use them you are handicapping yourself, and your bullet rating will be way
below your slower game rating.
In my post I meant the interface went on it's merry way playing games by
itself under my handle, with no interaction by me. For this I got into trouble
with the server.Incidentally, LCHESS played shocking games, losing one out of
two to a weak player.
I normally use 'Thief'. A rather nice interface, and I'll stay with it.
  regards
  Lin
