Go up one level in this thread

Can it be repeated publicly? Well Ed, there is a problem to cite from different fora. But I could describe the intentions of that postings. First this forum is connected to Chessbase products and its support and its periodical "Computerschach und Spiele" meaning "Computer Chess and Games". Therefore within that forum mostly there is no great interest in different variants of chess like Fischer Random Chess or 10x8 Capablanca board based variants. But suddenly someone has detected your attractive Penthouse pet Victoria Zdrok promoting Gothic Chess. The intention seems to be: when Gothic Chess would have such attractive fans, the game itself might also be attractive. The thread then changed by a topic question, whether mating would be possible there using only bishop and knight. The question has been extended to combinations of: two bishops, two knights and bishop, but as I understood targetting mainly to hexagonal chess. The topic was then transferred into thoughts, whether (free) GUIs to that Gothic Chess would exist, switching completely to discussing hexagonal chess instead. May be I has been very alone with a statement to working on a Capablanca chess variant, especially with CRC (which is the transformation of Fischers ideas to the Capablanca 10x8 piece set, covering Gothic Chess). I think, that there is still a need to discuss more precise information on Gothic Chess and relatives. But the CSS forum is mainly filled with posting in German language. A better forum to place your ideas in Germany would be the Arena Support Forum [http://f22.parsimony.net/forum41668/]. Here both, German and English language is accepted and FRC a topic theme. May be you can start a thread to support 10x8 boards by a GUI, for what I see a need, too. But still there is no matching GUI available, though I have made some suggestions to extend FEN compatibly and to cover FRC, GothicChess and CRC by a sort of UCI protocol. (also part of my coming book: [http://www.chessbox.de/Compu/fullchess1_e.html]) Regards, Reinhard.
