Exactly. I have both, infact. 3 sticks of PC2700 XMS Corsair and 1 stick of
PC3500 XMS corsair. The PC2700 will do up to 220fsb at CAS3 (3-4-4-9) and the
PC3500 can do 223fsb at CAS-2 (I think 2-3-3-6 or 7), but can do almost 250fsb
at CAS-2.5. Also have some older Corsair PC2400 and Crucial PC2100. Testing
between the PC2100 and Corsair PC3500 with the same settings (fsb speed &
latency settings) results in identical latency, and bandwidth.

The only ability the good memory gives you over the cheaper/slower ram is the
option to clock it higher and set the latency lower at those higher clock
speeds. It won't be faster with the same settings. Some websites may report
there are differences, but they are so ridiculously small that if you run the
benchmark (usually Sisoft sandra) over and over, you'll notice the score jumps
around quite a bit.
