Well, yes but they must play the best opening lines.
The "commercial versions" are commercial and so made for the majority of people
and must include a lot of alternatives. Most of them a weak. Against a very
strong player to play them is quite dangerous.
See below how it could have been otherwise.

Here white is already a little better. More importantly this position is not
good for the black player as the program quite often does not know what to do.
Black could have played a better opening...sorry but cannot tell which one...
>8. f3 Be6 9. d3!
(this move is not particulary good, but it is good because it is closing the
black pieces and brings to positions where the computers do not play well in
general).
{Time: 57:13 - 57:13} 9... c5?
(A typical mistake. Black should complete the development first and then pushes
pawns).

I agree.

White is better at least half a pawn, but it reality more since the opponent has
problems to play this line. Better would have been 12...Nc6, but would not have
changed the strategic black problems.
>13. f4! Nc6 14. f5 Bd7 15. g4! {Time 52:04 - 53:09} 15... Qc7
The program does not feel the danger of the king side...too bad...
The game is lost...there is no need to go on analysing this game.
