John called it a "HUGE problem", I just quoted him. So when I read your mysterious posts involving Johan, I simply found out the secret and replaced the old theking.exe with the new one, and it worked. Note that I probably won't discern the difference between the two engines: I don't run engine-engine matches, just play myself against them. Let me add that I have much more chess programs than I can use so I certainly won't bend over myself to get another one. I am waiting for the new Crafty though with the new features Dr. Hyatt mentioned here a while ago. Interested how will it adjust it's opening lines and playing style to the opponent. I find this much more exciting than increasing playing strength. Every time I read a post stating "the new version is 30-50 Elo stronger than the previous one!" I just shrug my shoulder, they're strong enough for me. > >For myself, I was just tried it because I could ( to use Bill Clinton's line). > >Here are the results of a 50 game Cm9K vs Cm10K match. > >Name Wins Draws Losses Games Score >CM9K 14 23 13 50 25.5 >Chessmaster 10K 13 23 14 50 24.5 > >Name 1 2 Total >1.CM9K XXX 25.5/50 25.5/50 >2.Chessmaster 10K 24.5/50 XXX 24.5/50 Sorry, these results tell absolutely nothing to me.
