Subject: Ruffian 2.1.0 and it's learning "problems"

Author: Peter Skinner

Date: 11:02:58 06/26/04

AS I have been pointing out to Frank via email and on the bulletin board on his
site about the learning problems in Ruffian, I think others might like to see
just how bad it is:

As you can see Ruffian did not even _try_ to avoid the same drawing lines at
all. There are most exactly like this, but I thought 5 was enough. This Blk-Gary
played 90 something games and was able to draw almost every 4th game.

This is using the Linux engine, but the Windows version is no better.

I had asked if an update was coming anytime soon, and Frank originally stated
the end of May, now it is the end of June, and nothing has been put forth. Not
even a small bugfix release to correct this problem....

I was going to purchase the Ktulu and Patriot releases from Frank, but I think
my money is now better spend on other things.

Peter
