After Sargon using a Trash 80, I got a Fidelity Voice Challenger sometime around
1981. There was some discussion a few weeks ago here on the Excalibur GM sensory
system and using another type of chess piece. I took an inexpensive "House of
Staunton" 4" classic ebonized wood set, used a 3/4" forstner drill bit and
removed a 3/4" dia. X 3/16th" deep portion of the soft lead weight at the base.
Inserted KCI magnets with a little glue and refelted the base. The magnets have
to be very strong. Try the ones you buy before popping them into the chess piece
base. My game didn't improve by now using nicely weighted and wooden pieces on
the GM. I thought it would. All show and no go I guess.
