Excellent Bill ! The standalone chess computers that i own are mostly Fidelity machines. I have noticed that by opening up the case and reseating the chips has worked very well in most cases that i have had. I was able to find some 68000,68020,68030 chips in Texas some years ago with some memory chips, so i bought them in case i ever need them. I gave some to a guy in Germany who i had sold a unit to that no longer worked. (my fault,...:)) It's my understanding he was able to have it repaired over there. But, you seem to really know your stuff, thats good to know!.. because all i have learned about trying to keep these units running has been through trial and error and,..well thats not enough in some cases.
