I have run on both.  For integer programming (chess) the opteron is better.  Not
to mention being perfectly x86 compatible so that any x86 program will run at
full speed.  Itanium can't do that...

Best bet is to look at SPEC numbers for both, particularly look at the crafty
numbers since it is an integer program like yours...
