Go up one level in this thread

I like Athlon XP processors - I have one Athlon XP 2700+ _underclocked_ (yes
that's right).
I have an Asus A7N8X-X (single channel) motherboard, 512Mb+512Mb DDR400
(Kingston HyperX KHX3200A 2-2-2-5 and OCZ 2-2-3-5).
My chip runs at 2166Mhz from factory and it ran well for 8 months, when Summer
arrived I started to have crashes with my checkers engine and when converting
video to DivX. After some experiences with processor intensive applications
(like POVray, Alparysoft codec, DivX codec - they crashed) I concluded i has to
be overheating, so I undercloked it to 1916Mhz and now I have no problems
whatsoever, except it is slower of course. By the way my heatsink is also
superior performance and I have more than enough fans ventilating fresh air from
the outside to the inside. Only underclocking solve my problem.

This is my case,
Alvaro Cardoso
