Then the simplest solution is to remove the "can only use chessbase GUI" flag in their server. Can't you also use xboard, winboard, arena, etc on the server? (Note: just not during the free evaluation). The code seems to be in place, it's just a restriction. I can understand that chessbase needs to recoup money spent on sponsoring WCCC, so more power to them (they are a business afterall). But why the chessbase GUI restriction then? It's access to the system that makes them money, not who uses xboard or the free chessbase client. If they already give out a free client, then letting other clients connect shouldn't cause any fiscal problems. Comments are appreciated, I might have this wrong. -Josh
