It's a good thing Bob's point wasn't a poisonous snake, or you'd be dead, because it's staring you right in the face, but you didn't see it :) You say, "stop complaining, you don't know how much work this is!" That is the point. It shouldn't be that much work, and that work shouldn't be left up to volunteers. This is not a criticism of you at all. No one is complaining that you aren't doing a good job. I have no doubt that you are doing the best possible job you can. Everyone realizes that. We are complaining about the ICGA. This whole idea is flawed from the beginning. Maybe it made since in 1980, but not today. They require a huge amount of money to allow someone else to host the event, but they don't provide any timely updates to the rest of the world in a portable, free format. They leave that up to volunteers. That isn't fair. So what does that huge amount of money go toward? Again this year the participation numbers declined. Participation is basically limited to locals and professionals, and a few who are in a unique situation where they have both the time and money to participate. You said yourself that it takes a full year of volunteer preparation to host the event. There are real problems. Would you agree? If there were no better alternatives, that would be one thing, but there are drastic improvements to all of these problems. The ICGA gives us the impression that they couldn't care less.
