Subject: How does one setup Winboard?

Author: Michael Marziale

At the Chessbase site, Winboard is available for download with these
instructions for installation:

Winboard engines currently tested and running fine:

   * Arasan
   * GNUChess (download ready setup)
   * Gromit 2.0 by Frank Schneider (download ready setup)
   * Little Goliath
   * Olithink
   * SSEChess
   * The Crazy Bishop by Rémi Coulom (download ready setup)
   * Tristram

Download the Winboard adapter (Version Dec 7, 1998).

Instructions for ChessBase 7.0 and Fritz5.32:

  1. Copy the file Winboard.eng into your Engines folder.
  2. Rename it to the chess program's original name + ".eng", e.g.
     Tristram.eng.
  3. Create a folder with the chess program's original name in the Engines
     folder, e.g. Engines\Tristram.
  4. Copy the chess program's exe and its auxiliary files into this folder.
  5. Create a file Tristram.init to send the correct command line
     (ready-made .init files for all engines available here soon, see
     GNUchess example).

Now "Tristram" will show up in your engines list.

My problem is that there is no .init file for Gnuchess that I can use as an
example.

Does anyone know how to do this right? I'd be grateful for step by step
instructions that will work. Thank you very much.
