It is hard to see if it underperforms or overperforms, because the Elo of the
players choosing the move is inconsistent.

The very best human players do not choose the move (I assume) for theory reasons
but maybe it is just traditinos.

The very best computer programs do not make the move, but that may be because
their opening books are created from the human players.

I am interested to know what has been written exactly about this pivotal choice
in the opening theory books like MCO, NCO, ECO, whatever.
