Why must someone be a member? Isn't the goal to boost membership? You don't do that by having a closed tournament and being in bed with chessbase. I'm more interested in the amateur programs than the commercials. There are 20 of each commercial playing on ICC. I like the atmosphere of ameteur engines, experienced programmers, new to the field of chess programming and the sharing of ideas. What do we get from watching for-money commercial feeds? Or what does chessbase offer your members? It's not like it's hard to setup live games or even relay on a more used ICS like ICC without gouging people for more money. I don't think chessbase and ICGA's views and plans are the same. If ICGA is going to become a commercially tainted org than I will not renew my membership or donate money. > >Those who would like better real-time coverage might like to say what they would >be prepared to pay for this per event. > >For comparison, I paid $25 to watch the America's Cup in realtime via a >simulation and that was good value. > >Those who just want a better 'free ride' should realise that they are not >proposing a 'sustainable model'.
