Hi Andrew.
I don't say your idea is not good but it smacks of "let's show em how it should
be done". I have really enjoyed the WCCC. Many pre-tournament criticisms
proved to be unfounded, i.e. "too many rounds, by round 7 the favorites will all
have played one another and it will all be over". The favorites have played,
but it's far from over. The physical aspects (accommodations, playing site,
organization) have, by all accounts, been first rate. The loudest criticism has
been the lack of dissemination of timely information. That's valid, but I see a
lot of howling just for the sake of howling. Personally, I have seen no
shortage of timely information thanks to folks here at CCC - by the time I
ingest the PGNs from one post there is an updated post. I use Windows but I
haven't even bothered to download the PlayChess thing.

It's easy to breathe flames. I see constructive dialog between Haworth, Hyatt
and others. Nobody says the WCCC is perfect, but maybe the problems can be
fixed. If not it will die a natural death and something else will take it's
place. But how about we wait a while and give it a chance. There is immense
talent here at CCC. We can bitch about things. We can also fix them.
