And none of the reasons why I'd be interested have anything to do with the perceived shortcomings of the WCCC. these reasons are assuming a few things about the organization of the contest. first that the level of competition would be lower than the WCCC. mostly that non-elite engines wouldn't be embarrased and would have a chance to win a couple matches. 1) It could be an event that is affordable to many people who wouldn't be able to afford a trip to the WCCC. both in terms of travel expenses and hardware costs. 2) It would be a chance to experience a live over the board tournament. Something with the feel of a WCCC. 3) You would get a chance to meet many of the other authors that you have discussed chess with in this and other forums. I know many people in here have been very helpful to me and it would be neat to meet them in person and thank them for their contributions.
