Hi Eric: I'm not anti Andrews proposal, I'm just not sure the timing is good. I'm pretty new to computer chess. I'm working on my engine while it plays in assorted tournaments around the internet. That's been fun, but after following the WCCC, I'm dying to try a live over the board tournament. I'm sure I would suffer as many trials and tribulations as Uri has in the WCCC. But it would still be great fun. Birmingham (about 2 1/2 hours from where I live) over a long weekend as Andrew mentions would be perfect for me. Both internet and live events have their place. May chess prosper and there be many of both. But right now WCCC is in the spotlight. There are issues. I'd like to see us, for now, focus on those. Dan H.
