Bruce Moreland, Dann Corbit, myself, and probably others who don't have something released to the public. In addition, nothing was said about the participation being restricted to U.S. or North American engines. I think it would be great if we had a live tournament in the U.S. and had participation from outside the U.S. There are possibilities for a big tournament that may attract some people from outside the U.S. One thing that has crossed my mind is two tournaments running in parallel, human and computer. They could be separate events, or maybe a human vs. computer thing, or maybe a little of both. There are lots of interesting possibilities. I was thinking about my local situation, and I am sure there are similar opportunities all over the U.S. I live in the Dallas area, and we have the UTD collegiate chess team with Tim Redman, and the Dallas Chess Club which is always running tournaments. The president of the Dallas Chess Club is Luis Salinas, who is also the Region 3 director for the state of Texas. So the possibility of something like that exists. In the north east we have a very similar possibility with UMBC, Dan Heisman, and all manner of popular chess clubs and strong players. If we got something like that together and included UTD or UMBC (or whoever), we may have a chance to get GM participation in the human event (since that's mainly what UTD and UMBC are), and the whole thing could end up being very popular. All of the sudden the whole thing is covered by Chess Life. If any of the commercial guys want to show up and get free publicity, it could be bigger than anyone expected.
