OS X is built with the freely available gcc compiler which is also available online. When you bought your machine or OS X there is a 3rd CD for development tools. Project Builder and Xcode are really nice IDE for graphical programming. However you can still use gcc like you would on any unix'ish machine (Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, etc). Just use your terminal. You can also download it for free from apple's developer website. http://developer.apple.com/tools/macosxtools.html Hope this helps :) Sincerely, Joshua Shriver BTW if you install Fink, you can also grab other compilers, interpreters + a myriad of gnu/free software.
