Hi,

Spike is written in c++ and java at the same time. It uses only c++ constructs
that are compatible with java. But it still needs a little "converter" (that
only replaces strings).

Spike on java runs about 2,5 times slower than the c++ Version. The main reason
is that java allways checks bounds when accessing an array. The java compiler
does a verry good job.
