Subject: Fritz-Diep puzzling position

Since noone posted this then maybe I am missing something obvious here...
After Diep move 30... Qd4 this position occured in the game:

[D]1r3k1r/3b1ppp/1q1p4/3PpPP1/1pB1P3/pP4P1/P1RQ4/1K5R b - - 0 30

Now after 31. Qxd4 exd4 32.Rd2 white (fritz) gets simple position with a pawn
up. I am having trouble understanding why 30... Qd4 was played and 31 QxQ was
not.
