Good point. Years ago double round-robin tournaments of 16 (30 games each!) were not uncommon. Modern time controls act as a decent randomizer. In the long run "bad luck" tends to be fairly evenly distributed, but I'd hate to bet on the outcome of any single playoff game tomorrow. PK
